Fluorescent Fixtures
Fluorescent fixtures have evolved dramtically since the introduction of fluorescent lamps in 1939. Their primary use started as a general lighting alternative to incandescent and halogen light sources. Fluorescent offered a much better efficacy (efficiency), longer life, and cooler operating temperature. Today fluorescent lamps and fixtures are one of the most flexible and customizable lighting systems. Variations in phosphors and color temperatures can bring out colors and improve room aesthectics compared to previous generations of lamps. Their main use continues to be general lighting, but are also seen in track lighting, color matching applications, and frequently as an energy saving alternative (up to 50%) to high-bay fixtures. With some of the new advancements in reflectorized fluorescent technology, high and low bay fixtures can be replaced with a fluorescent fixture, saving significant energy costs. There are a wide variety of fixture variations, ballast combinations, and lamp technologies that allow you to have almost unlimited control of your system and energy use.
